One8Nine partnered with Tailored Spirits Co. to craft a whisky brand defined by Time — a concept woven through every release. From concept to packaging, each edition evolves while preserving the brand’s enduring elegance and celestial inspiration.
One8Nine entrusted Tailored Spirits Co. with their extensive portfolio of casks, their vision was bold: to create a brand rooted in the theme of Time – a concept intrinsic to whisky itself. They needed more than packaging; they needed a story that could evolve across multiple releases while maintaining a timeless identity.

When One8Nine entrusted Tailored Spirits Co. with their extensive portfolio of casks, their vision was bold: to create a brand rooted in the theme of Time – a concept inseparable from whisky itself.
They needed more than packaging; they needed a story that could evolve across multiple releases while maintaining a timeless identity.
Our role was to shape this vision into reality. Crafting their brand identity into a cohesive, tiered series that presented the full range of their offerings – from entry-level whiskies to extremely rare, limited edition runs with unique concepts and artwork.
Time was identified as the pivotal concept that unites each release - visualised through astrological themes; from the light-brushed landscapes painted by the suns arc through the skies, the symbiosis of the sun and moon, and the ancient myths related to these celestial bodies.
Every detail was designed to honour both the whisky and the legacy it represents.

The Eternal Cycle
Few things capture the passage of time as vividly as the daily rhythm of the sun and moon.
This entry-level tier in the collection divides the cycle into eight distinct moments, beginning with First Light – release no. 1 – and ending with the Full Moon at midnight.
Each stage was expressed through paintings that explore how shifting light interacts with the landscapes tied to the whisky’s provenance. In collaboration with an artist, we created bespoke works that embody dawn, midday, dusk, and nightfall – where light itself became the unifying motif.

Artwork
Painting the essence of time
Each bottle in this collection serves as a canvas for the artwork it bears – created by a contemporary digital artist, the series captures the shifting light of a single day across the regions that give life to each expression.
For Benriach 1997, the featured piece portrays the first light of dawn breaking over Speyside. Soft hues of gold and fire emerge through the early mist, illuminating the gentle contours of the land surrounding the distillery.
Through the considered pairing of art and whisky, the design celebrates the unique sense of place and time that defines Benriach 1997.

Whisky Profile
benriach 1997
Nestled in the heart of Speyside, Benriach Distillery has been quietly crafting whisky since 1898, earning a reputation for its inventive spirit and depth of character. Founded by John Duff, the distillery has long been celebrated for its ability to combine traditional techniques with bold experimentation, producing expressions that are both classic and intriguingly unconventional.
Benriach draws its water from the mineral-rich Burnside Springs, lending a distinct vibrancy to its spirit. Known for exploring a variety of cask maturations and both peated and unpeated styles, the distillery’s whiskies showcase a remarkable spectrum of flavour.
This rare 1997 vintage captures Benriach at a defining moment in its modern renaissance – a beautifully matured single malt that embodies the distillery’s signature balance of fruit, malt, and subtle smoke. A true reflection of Speyside craftsmanship, it offers a glimpse into the innovative heart of Benriach’s whisky-making legacy.

- Finish: Deep and fruity, the whisky balances sweetness and spice. A long, satisfying finish leaves rich, lingering layers on the palate.

The Sun and Moon
The eternal cycle - prestige release
The Sun and Moon tier builds upon the foundation of the first release, elevating the series with a refined, minimalist aesthetic.
Here, the complete design is screen-printed directly onto the glass, forgoing a paper label entirely, creating a premium, understated finish.
Here the essence of time is encapsulated in the celestial bodies of the sun and moon in union, and their eternal passage through time and space. It captures the quiet elegance of light and shadow in motion.
Presented in a velvet lined presentation box finished in luxury GF Smith uncoated paper stock and gold metallic foil.
