A 33-year-old Macallan became the heart of Maestro — a brand born from the union of Malaysian heritage and Celtic tradition. From identity to bottle and luxury packaging, Tailored Spirits Co. turned a cask into a statement of culture, craft, and legacy.
Our goal at Tailored Spirits Co. is to unlock the true value of owning single cask spirits. With industry level services at an individual level, we help private owners, enthusiasts, businesses and aspiring bottlers to create truly special bottled spirits.
Challenge
To transform a prized Macallan cask into the foundation of a new brand, Maestro, blending Malaysian heritage with Celtic history.
Deliverables
- Brand identity & logo
- Bottle, stopper, and label design
- Luxury outer packaging & protective shipping solution
- Export compliance & worldwide logistics management
- End-to-end bottling coordination
After nearly a year of challenges trying to bottle their cask independently, a group of investors entrusted Tailored Spirits Co. with their prized Macallan. Their vision was ambitious: to launch a new brand, Maestro, blending Malaysian heritage with Celtic history.
Our role was to bring this vision to life — creating not only the brand identity and logo for a series of future releases, but also designing a luxurious presentation worthy of the whisky itself. From bottle and stopper to labelling, outer packaging, and a tailored shipping solution, every detail was considered.
We ensured the cask’s safe transformation into a world-class bottling, supporting the export to Malaysia and overseeing all logistics to guarantee its secure arrival. The result was Maestro: a seamless fusion of culture, craft, and legacy.

The Goal
Vision Into Legacy
A group of whisky investors, each passionate about both fine spirits and cultural heritage, set out to build more than just a whisky bottling. Their ambition was to create a brand — a legacy — that could stand proudly in the company of the world’s most prestigious labels.
They envisioned Maestro as a bridge between two worlds: the rich storytelling of Celtic tradition and the vibrant character of Malaysian culture. Their Macallan cask, carefully matured and bursting with sherry character, was chosen as the first chapter in this journey.
33 Years Old
At the heart of Maestro lies the concept of three, a number significant in both Celtic and Malaysian traditions and one that reflects the whisky’s extraordinary 33 years of maturation.
A triquetra knot, the ancient Celtic symbol of threefold unity, was integrated into the brand mark to represent tradition, continuity, and balance.
In Malaysian culture, the number three is deeply auspicious, associated with prosperity and harmony. To honour this, the label was designed with thirty-three triangles, a subtle yet powerful detail connecting the spirit to its cultural roots.

The Elements
The Stopper
From CAD to Reality
The stopper began as a digital concept, modelled in CAD to refine its proportions and balance. We then worked closely with our specialist suppliers to bring the design to life through colour-matched wood, a custom-cut shape, and a finely etched brass insert.
Every material was chosen to harmonise with the wider design language of Maestro, ensuring consistency from top to base. The tactile quality of the wood and metal invites touch, creating a first impression that feels both substantial and luxurious. The result is a detail that finishes the bottle with distinction and permanence.
The Bottle
A Bold Silhouette
For Maestro, the bottle itself became a statement piece. Its silhouette was custom sprayed in deep black, a dramatic finish that immediately set it apart from conventional glass. This bold choice created a sense of mystery and intrigue, inviting the drinker to discover the rare whisky within.
To complement the striking form, a refined decal was applied, adding subtle texture and depth to the surface. This detail transformed the bottle from a functional container into a design object in its own right — one that embodies the sophistication and cultural fusion at the heart of Maestro.
The Label
Tactility and Texture
We selected brocade‑embossed stock in a vermilion shade from GF Smith, a tribute to the shimmering richness of Malaysian songket textiles, traditionally woven with gold threads. Vermilion itself, derived historically from the cinnabar pigment, has been used across Asia for centuries—its vivid hue and cultural resonance make it a meaningful choice.
We worked closely with master printers to apply a layered emboss directly onto this luxurious stock, then color-matched the foil to the vermilion tone for a flawless, tactile finish. The final product elevated the label from mere packaging to an artful expression of cultural heritage and craftsmanship.

Illustration
Story Through Art
The Maestro outer box began with an intricate hand-drawn artwork by Hannah, whose talent brought the brand’s cultural fusion to life. The design combined Celtic knotwork with flowing Malaysian-inspired motifs, interwoven into a composition that feels timeless and symbolic. Rendered in rich gold against deep black, the illustration creates both drama and depth — a story unfolding across the surface of the box.
Every detail was carefully placed to reward close attention, turning the packaging into more than a container, but a canvas of heritage and imagination.

Construction
Expertly Crafted
Once the illustration was complete, we worked with specialist makers to transform it into a luxury outer box. Multiple finishes were combined, including foiling, embossing, and textured layers, to preserve the detail of the artwork while giving the surface depth and tactility.
The box was carefully engineered to protect the whisky during international transport while also creating a sense of theatre when opened. Every element was refined for strength, elegance, and consistency, ensuring that Maestro would arrive safely and make a lasting impression from the very first touch.
The Rollout
Bottling
Bringing It All Together
The rollout of Maestro began at the bottling hall, where every element was brought into harmony. The whisky was carefully filled into its custom black bottles, sealed with the bespoke stoppers, and dressed with embossed labels.
Each bottle was paired with its illustrated presentation box and assembled with the highest attention to detail. Every stage was quality checked to ensure the final product lived up to the promise of luxury, both in craft and in presentation.
Shipping
Global Export And Delivery
With assembly complete, our focus turned to protecting the whisky on its journey to Malaysia. We designed a secure palletising and shipping solution that balanced strength with elegance, ensuring the cargo remained safe throughout international transport.
All documentation, compliance, and export logistics were managed end to end, giving the client confidence that their vision would arrive in perfect condition. From bottling hall to destination, every step was overseen with precision
The Reveal
The Final Unveiling
The journey of Maestro culminated in a finished product that captured both vision and craft. The deep black bottle, the precision of the embossed label, the illustrated outer box, and the bespoke stopper all came together in harmony.
Photography was commissioned to capture the whisky in both studio and lifestyle settings, presenting Maestro as not just a bottle, but a statement of culture and luxury. Each image was created to showcase the depth of detail and the rare prestige of a 33- year-old Macallan transformed into a timeless brand.
